Abstract

The test sample (201) is secured at the bottom end (202) to a mounting element (203) having a spherical head (204) cooperating with the periphery (206) of a cylindrical tube (207). This tube (207) encloses a coaxial shaft (208) to which the other end (209) of the test sample (201) is fixed. An oven (256) and a cryostat (263) are provided and can be selectively brought into an operative position where they surround the bottom part of the tube (207) enclosing the test sample (202). The upper part of the appts. is thermally isolated from the bottom part by a cylindrical screen (241).
