Abstract

The projection system employes a parabolic mirror (3) which is located so that the tachometer face (2) is at its centre. The light rays impinging on the mirror surface and originating at the mirror centre are reflected parallel to the axis of symmetry of the parabola, onto the transparent front surface (1) of the vehicle instrument panel, which deflects then towards the driver. Alternatively a small plane mirror may be located adjacent the tachometer face (2) so that the light rays from the latter are directed onto the parabolic mirror (3) and appear to have come from a real image of the tachometer face at the centre of the parabolic mirror (3).
