Abstract

The damper consists of two solid or cup shaped elastomer discs which are bonded to solid discs. A flexible sleeve is bonded round the two elastomer sleeves. A flowing medium is contained in the space between discs and sleeve, the viscosity of which remains approximately constant with temperature. When the end discs are moved together, the medium squeezes out from between them and the sleeve expands. Various shapes can be given to the discs, so that part of the medium becomes trapped when the disc moves together and narrow gaps form choke paths to the flowing medium. Alternatively, a sleeve with small holes can be mounted round the discs inside the flexible sleeve.
