Abstract

The tennis court is designed to facilitate the speedy drainage of the court after rainfall. When constructing the court a drainage layer of suitable material is first laid. On this layer are laid the drainage pipes of plastic with a diameter of between 0.5 and 2 centimetres. As n alternative, blocks of porous material may be used. When the pipes have been laid the concrete slab for the court is poured around them and it is trowelled flat. If the surface of the court is of bituminous materials the area is laid and grooves are then cut in the finished surface to receive the drain pipes.
