Abstract

Rollers for equipment for extracting pulp or juice from fruit etc. comprises a positively driven drive shaft fitted with a sleeve made of a flexible or semi-rigid material and having an undulating or star shaped external profile and an internal profile to match the profile of the drive shaft or an arbor thereon. Flexible synthetic sleeves can deform to accommodate occasional pips without damage, may offer better chemical resistance for the application than rolls made of aluminium or of cast iron. Rolls may be of any required length. Rollers may be covered with several sleeves fitted end-to-end. Use of sleeves made of food grade rubber or of polyamide or polyethylene is prefd. The sleeves are made by extrusion or as individual mouldings.
