Abstract

The tubes in the two or more bundles are supported in two or more plates surrounded by a condenser housing comprising a sleeve and plates. Each bundle, its supporting plates and a corresponding portion of the sleeve are self-supporting, and constitute a unit of strength, assembled from a set of blocks. The cavity enclosed by the tubes can accommodate a stiffener beam running in the lengthwise direction of the tubes between the support plates, and between the latter and the tube plates, and attached to the latter by pivot pins.
