Abstract

A pneumatic tyre (e.g. for aircraft) has annular reinforcing cables encapsulated in the beads, the reinforcing cables being of organic fibres and having a modulus of elasticity of >=300 gm/den. The fibres are pref. of a long chain aromatic polyamide of which 85% of the bonds are directly attached to an aromatic nucleus. The reinforcing cables are strong and extremely light, thereby reducing the weight of the tyre.
