Abstract

The container has a downwardly folded top edge which is surrounded by a sealing ring. The container lid is placed over the sealing ring and has an inwardly and upwardly folded edge which extends between the folded edge of the container and the main container body. A radially moving cutting tool is used to sever the edge of the lid and the lower part of the sealing ring to leave a short folded over lip which engages the lower edge of the folded edge of the container, thus ensuring that the lid does not accidently become removed.
