Abstract

The drive and control circuit, for a motor that drives a telescopic aerial in and out, has two relays (4, 13) whose contacts determine the polarity of the supply applied to the motor (1) (and hence its direction of rotation). The relay coils (5, 14) are coupled via timing circuits to the control switch (26). Closing the control switch operates the first relay (4) and then the second relay over a transistor (29). The motor starts forwards. After a time determined by a series RC circuit (27, 28) the transistor (29) turns off and the second relay (13) is de-energised. The supply to the motor is broken and it stops. Opening the control contact de-energises the first relay and allows a capacitor (34) to discharge through the second relay thus energising it. The motor now starts in reverse. When the capacitor has discharged, the motor stops.
