Abstract
Clamping jaws on two blocks move in opposite directions to engage alternately with the rope under the action of a reciprocating lever. This has two or more grips, one on each side of the winch. There can be two handles, mounted on a common shaft in the upper or central portion of the winch housing, and bent outwards, or they can be bent inwards towards each other and secured at the free end to a single transverse handlebar.
