Abstract

The inductor consists of a magnetic field concentrator carrying a winding plus connections, the assembly being placed in a case to prevent its destruction. The winding consists of two adjacent sections with an equal no. of turns but wound in opposite directions; the case is earthed and the two windings are connected in a tubular section at the middle of the concentrator, the outer ends being connected to the case. The concentrator hs two helical grooves in its periphery running in opposite directions, the windings being housed in the grooves. The connections have a low inductance so losses are avoided, and they are shielded so there is no danger to personnel.
