Abstract

The valve is for controlling temperature levels of heating and air conditioning units, in vehicles, or similar. A sensor bulb (9) placed in the vehicle carries a temperature sensitive fluid which also fills two different sized chambers (12.1, 12.2) in the valve body (11, 13, 14, 15). A temperature rise causes the fluid to expand and push the larger diaphragm (17) with its washer (19), piston (21) and valve ring (23) down to its stop (14.3). The smaller diaphragm (16) then deforms and moves its piston (18, 20) against spring pressure (27). Drops in temperature have the reverse effects. The complete assembly is used to control the inlet and outlet flows of a liquid.
