Abstract

The spoiler consists of two vertical strip members and three shaped spoiler elements (2) (3) and (4). Each spoiler element consists of two flat lateral cheeks opening slightly to the rear. These are connected to centre plates. The upper part of each centre plate has two buckles (5) engaging with hooks (6) fixed to the rear of the strips. The lower edges of the spoiler element overlap with practically no play. As vehicle speed increases the spoilers move more and more towards the horizontal. The results in a change in angle of air passing off the vehicle rear, increasingly horizontal as speed increases. On reduction of vehicle speed, the reverse occurs.
