Abstract
Guanidines (I), their salts have the formula:-(where R1 is H or CHR4R4; R3 and R5 are H or alkyl; R2 is H, alkyl, 5 or 6C-cyclo-alkyl, 7-9C-phenylalkyl and wherein the benzene nucleus is opt. substd. by halogen. CF3, alkyl or alkoxy; R3 is H; primary or secondary-alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, allyl, OH, NH2, dialkylamino, 7-9C-phenylalkyl linked to the N atom via C atom carrying at least one H and wherein the benzene nucleus is opt substd. by halogen, CF3 alkyl or alkoxy; provided that R1 R2 and R3 are not all N, & R2, is H when R3 is allyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl or opt. substd. phenylalkyl) and are useful as diuretic agents.
