Abstract

The wire wound electric heating elements of the heater are enclosed in a flat metal housing (2) the front face of which acts as a radiant surface for direct heating and the rear surface carries a number of projecting vanes, which transfer heat by convection to the ambient air. The vanes at the rear of the metal housing (2) are overlaid, at least in part, by a shield (1) which prevents heat transfer to the area directly behind the heater. Pref. the vanes are formed by a pleated metal sheet (5) secured to the rear of the housing (2) so as to define a seies of separate channels.
