Abstract

A plant for contacting liqs. with gases, e.g. for humidifying air or cooling water, has several gas flow passages formed by vertical plates down which the water flows, and in addition, a system for distributing the water slow onto the tops of the plates so that it runs down (part of) the walls of the passages. The humidity of the air leaving the plant can be controlled according to the atmospheric conditions, so that condensation or even frosting, which might occur in mid-season or winter, can be avoided. In addn., the disadvantages of using heat exchangers such as deterioration of the exchanger and loss of air circulation pressure are avoided and the appts. is more efficient than systems using contact surface reduction or by-pass arrangements.
