Abstract

The impedance transducer is attached to the wall opposite to that which holds the nozzle and is exponentially tapered with its larger diameter end located outside the generator housing. The transducer provides an acoustic length equivalent to an even numbered multiple of the half wave length of the droplet excitation frequency. More specifically the acoustic length equals one half of the wavelength. A piezoelectric ceramic connected to an excitation source is fixed to the broader end of the transducer.
