Abstract

Tubular spool mounting spindle has opposed lengthwise slots through which protrude radially the lengthwise edges of a spool retainer of S shape having a resilient central portion within the spindle bore. Specif. the S-shape resilient central portion of teh retainer has leaf areas located externally of the spindle, the upper end of which has a stop which keeps the retainer in the spindle bore when a spool is doffed, and also guides a spool onto the spindle when provided with an enlarged dia.
