Abstract

Container is for rapid freezing, and subsequent storage and thawing, of e.g. blood, and for fermentation and lyophilising of pharmaceutical prepns. and biological materials. The container is of hollow, double-relieved borosilicate glass with a low expansion coefft., and has an annular outer wall of single thickness, two flat, parallel sides continuous and integral with the ends of the annular wall, and tubular openings, extending from one end of the annular wall and integrally connected with it, to connect with the vessel's interior; the openings are coplanar with the discs. Preferably each opening has a lip, to which a sealing component can be affixed, at the open end.
