Abstract
Dielectric liquid impregnating agent for use in electrical devices, pref. electrical condensers, contains a liquid ester (I) of an aliphatic acid mixed with 0.01-10 wt.% epoxide stabiliser, contg. the -CH-CH-O gp., which is capable of reacting with undesired contaminants, e.g. acids, acid components and precursors, and prevents ester decompsn. effects. (I) may have formula R(COOR1)x (where R is an aliphatic substituent and R1 is alkyl or aryl) and is pref. a fatty acid glyceride. a plant seed oil, partic. castor oil, or an ester of a dibasic acid, e.G. dibutyl adipate or sebacate. Pref. condenser electrodes contain metallised polypropylene strips.
