Abstract
Consists essentially of a body (2) and a shutter (3). Both are in refractory material such as asbestos cement. The body parts are in contact at each end and restrict the movement of the shutter (which slides in the body). The body has two openings, and the shutter one. In the working position these coincide. The shutter is held open by a fusible piece against the spring (15). Undue heat melts the fusible piece, whereupon the spring closes the shutter. More than one spring can be used. The openings in the body and shutter are rectangular. The fusible piece is formed by two metal plates with adjacent faces joined by a layer of fusible material.
