Abstract

In a compsn. comprising >=1 volatile active agents and a polymeric support through which the volatile agent(s) can be liberated into the atmosphere, the polymeric support is comprised of (i) a pulp, of apparent density 0.01-0.5 and BET specific surface of 2-25 g/m2, which is an amorphous prod. obtd. by pptn. of a polymeric material from soln. using a non-solvent for the polymer which is miscible with the solvent, and (ii) a polymeric binder for the pulp of softening pt. below that of the pulp. The compsns. are used as insecticides, (de)odorants, disinfectants etc.; the volatiles may be present as 50-60 wt. % of the compsn. without being exuded. The binder need not be present e.g. in agricultural applications.
