Abstract

The analogue digital converter has a series of comparators (12a--12d) receiving the input analogue signal and with respective terminals (14a-14b) receiving reference signals, with the incremental variation between the reference signals, (12a-12d), applied to successive comparators being a constant given amount. The converter effects a predetermined number of conversions of the analogue signal to give a corresponding number of digital values, with the series of obtained digital values satisfying one of two specified equations relating to the value of the analogue signal, the incremental variation in the reference voltages supplied to the comparators, and the number of conversions effected.
