Abstract

An automatic machine for cleaning ships' portholes, or windows in high rise buildings. An electric motor (2) drives cylindrical brushes (3) mounted vertically in a rectangular or square frame (4). Nozzles are also fitted in the vertical side of the frame to spray water directly onto the brushes. The complete unit is suspended from a guide rail fixed to the side of the ship or building and is moved along the rail by an electric motor (1) driving a gear (7) in mesh with a rack. Water hoses and electrical cables are held in troughs fixed near to the guide rail.
