Abstract

The tool is intended primarily for garden use. Its purpose is to overcome the difficulty, when planting bulbs, of loose soil falling into and filling the hole excavated for the bulb by the conventional method. It also enables bulbs to be planted at a particular depth. It consists of a tubular receptacle with cutter, integral with the lower end of a lever, and having two jaws for moving the soil aside and allowing the bulb to slide into the ground. The opening of the tube consists of a chamfered jaw upon which the second jaw closes, forming a cutting edge for forcing into the soil. The second jaw is integral with a handle and is pivoted on the tube.
