Abstract

Signalling the presence of a liquid is required for the treatment of incontinence in children or for verifying the presence of water in petrol tanks. Various applications require different levels of sensitivity. A detector has a body (1) made from insulating material with a cavity contg. U-shaped blades (3, 4) of a switch connected to two connecting wires (5, 6). Between the arms of blades, is mounted a pin with flats (12) which adjusts the distance between the blade arms to adjust sensitivity. A block (15) is contained in a second part of the body with a perforated cover (21) between which is a spongy material which absorbs the liquid and displaces the arm causing a contact (17) to bridge the switch blades.
