Abstract

The tool consists of a holder with a flat surface on which the double-ended carbide insert rests. Tapered surfaces are provided in the middle section of the upper surface of the insert and a clamping strap presses against these surfaces. A groove is located in the bottom face of the insert at each end, i.e. adjacent to the cutting edge and a peg. is fixed in the flat surface of the holder near to the working edge; the peg mates with one of the grooves. Accurate location is assured by means of the clamping strap and the peg, and it is therefore unnecessary to machine a V-groove in the holder.
