Abstract
Feed comprises (a) a high-fat vegetable fruit (e.g. copra, groundnuts, palm kernels) contg. 35-80 wt. % raw fat and (b) an animal and/or vegetable protein component contg. 4-34% (based on the weight of raw fat) raw protein. Administration of the new feed to animals (esp. swine, but also cattle) enables the animals to be brought to slaughter in a shorter time than with conventional feed without adversely affecting meat or fat quality and without increasing the cost of fattening. A claimed fattening process comprises administering increasing amounts of the new feed to animals (esp. swine), starting at 6 weeks or later, for 14-15 weeks until ready for slaughter.
