Abstract

The compsn. comprises 5-70 pts. (wt) ethylene (co) polymer and 95-30 pts. alumina trihydrate (I) with the gibbsite crystalline structure and contg. >=0.2 wt.% fixed Na cpds. expressed as Na2O. The copolymer contains >=80% ethylene and the polyethylene or the copolymer pref. has a density >0.93, a melt index 0.001-20 g/10 min under a load of 2.16 kg at 190 degrees C, polymers of m.w. >100,000 and melt index 0.01-01g/min being pref. The alumina has a particle size of at most 100 mu. According to the ratio of (co)polymer to Al2O3. 3H2O and other additives, the compsn. can be used for moulding, synthetic paper with good marking properties, laminating with Al foil without using adhesives or pretreating the resin moulding etc. The compsn. has good flexibility and is resistant to tear, impact, chemical reagents and electric arc. It is also non-inflammable and heat-insulating.
