Abstract

Crimped fibrous sheet, for e.g. wall covering, is produced by (a) forming an aq. dispersion of fibres, e.g. wood pulp, and thermoplastic polymer powder, e.g. polyethylene, (b) draining the dispersion on a porous support to produce a fibrous sheet material contg. dispersed polymer powder, (c) drying the material produced on the porous support, (d) heating the dry material, and (e) crimping by applying pressure while it is still hot, in order to form a relief surface. does not cause blurring of the relief surface when wetted.
