Abstract

The seating arrangement is designed to supplement seat belts and normal safety equipment and guards against both front and rear collisions. The seats are firmly fixed to a separately sliding floor which is constantly pressed towards the rear of the vehicle by spring or similar means. In a front collision, passengers are projected forward more and more slowly. The spring devices also act as a shock absorbers and can be mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic or a combination of these. The sliding effect is given by roller action, in guides. The patent includes also sprung bumpers, front and rear.
