Abstract

The apparatus is designed for use in a Fabry Perrot resonator where the tube outer surface is an aluminium cathode. Two capillary tubes run the length of the resonator terminating in cylindrical anodes beyond which are the resonator mirrors. The anodes are fed via resistors to the two ends of an autotransformer centre-tapped to the supply again via a suitable resistor. In series with this supply is the auxiliary priming source connected across a rectifier. Use of the inductance ensures simultaneous excitation of the anode cathode space.
