Abstract

Circuit-breaker is esp. of the SF6 pressurised gas type. The material gives off gas when exposed to the heat of the electric arc; its porous structure is like that of a filter, and it forms components in the chambers. Pref. the max. pore width of the filter PTFE is 50 mu, and its grain size is max. 200 mu. Spec. permitting escape of gases prevents spalling of the surfaces of the components.
