Abstract

Each of the aligned screens comprises a double honey-comb cell structure, covered by a sound absorbent material. Each cell (5, 6, 7) is of cylindrical form with flexible walls made from reinforced elastomer, lined externally by felt, glass fibre etc. and the latter protected externally by a perforated wall. The cylinders (5, 6, 7) preferably have a diameter between fifteen and one hundred centimetres and a length of between one and ten metres. Each screen may have three cells (5, 6, 7) which are axially aligned and which contact each other peripherally, with two auxiliary cells (8, 9) on the side facing the motor-way.
