Abstract

Surgical dressing, comprising an nonwoven strip of sufficient density to give transverse rigidity, the strip being folded, preferably along the median line, over itself while a rigid, woven or nonwoven dressing of greater density is contained inside the folded strip and retained there by clips, adhesives etc. The dressing is used for prevention of bleeding after blood transfusion etc. and is cheap, its transverse rigidity avoids the possibility of tourniquet-like action possible with gauze bandage dressings, and may be manufactured in long lengths with individual dressings separated by perforations, etc.
