Abstract

A transistor convertor circuit of the 'instant firing' type is connected to at least one fluorescent tube and which is connected in series with a stabilized supply whose output voltage is adjustable by means of a potentiometer. The stabilized supply is connected to a 28 volt d.c. supply. The convertor is designed to fire the tube when it is fed with approx. 15 volts and to extinguish the tube when the supply voltage falls to approx. 6 volts. The convertor is particularly applicable to aircraft use. The fluorescent tubes remain insensitive to voltage variations produced on board aircraft. Each passenger can control his own lighting without risk of a tube misfiring.
