Abstract

Novel organomercury cpds. of formula (I) (where R is H, lower alkyl or -COR1 in which R1 is H or lower alkyl). Spec. claimed is 9-methyl-7-formyloxy-trans decalin-3-chloromercurate. Cpd. (I) are useful as intermediates in syntheses. They are prepd. from trans-5-methyl-, 1,5,9-decatriene by reaction with mercuric salt of carboxylic acids and then reacting the prod. with formic acid.
