Abstract
The RF oscillator varactor is situated in a cavity terminated at one and in a short-cct and coupled at the other over a step transformer to normal waveguide. A gunn or avalanche diode -- forming the oscillator itself -- is located a given distance in front of the short-cct. The varator diode is located at the opposite end of the cavity next to the step transformer. A tuning screw protrudes into the cavity between diodes. The varactor is controlled by a square wave voltage whose min. is approx. zero and whose max. is compatible with the varactor characteristics.
