Abstract

Electro-mechanical drive device, comprising (a) a first electromagnetic stator associated with a first magnetically driven component (I) e.g. a needle bar in a sewing machine, installed in such as way as to be caused to carry out a first displacement cycle by virtue of the magnetic fields developed in the stator, (b) at least one secondary stator and at least one associated mobile secondary element e.g. a shuttle-carrier which is installed in such a way as to carry out a sequence of movements determined by the magnetic fields developed in the secondary stator, and (c) a generator producing a magnetic signal representing the position of component (I), units for detecting this signal and for supplying the excitation current to the second stator and a device for interconnecting these units in such a way during operation that the characteristics of the excitation current are identical to those of the signal detected. Especially, the signal from the generator indicates not only the position of (I) but also the sense of its motion.
