Abstract

Material comprises an opt. cured molecular mixt. of (A) 10-90% of the soft elastomeric, crosslinkable material able to form a network structure and (B) 990-10% of a "creeping" polymer, i.e. a polymer whose molecule is able to move through the network structure enclosing it, although the movement may be relatively slow because of the length and high complexity of the polymer in the network structure. (A) is a material contg. up to 3 mol. % unsatd. bonds, e.g. a butyl substit. (B) is a low mol. wt. polymer, oligomer or monomer, and both (A) and (B) are pref. chemically similar, e.g. a suitable system comprises butyl rubber as (A) and a non-crosslinkable polyisobutylene as (B).
