Abstract

Device, for articles arranged in layers, in partic. intended for removing filled cans of preserved food, which have been sterilised in an autoclave, and placing them on a conveyor going to a packing station. The superimposed cans are placed in a cage which has a movable base. After sterilisation and cooling, the cage is brought to the extraction station arranged at the side of a conveyor. There is a vertical jack with an elevating piston underneath each post. A horizontal extractor, with a semi-circular push-guide which partly surrounds each layer of cans in turn as it is pushed up by the elevating piston, is also provided at each post to push the cans to the conveyor. Device eliminates the considerable manual handling needed hitherto and accelerates the packing operation. Batteries of extraction posts may be arranged along the line of the same conveyor; each post may deal with articles of a different type and shape.
