Abstract

Prepn. of glucose-indicating compsns. partic. for use in human biological fluids, comprising an absorbent carrier impregnated with a buffer soln. contg. chromogenic enzymes, in which the absorbent carrier is covered with a semi-permeable film contg. clearing agents which neutralize substances in the liquid contg. glucose which interfere with the colour-forming reaction spec. Ascorbic acid, which inhibits colour formation in enzyme-based tests for glucose, is removed from the sphere of action by the treated film. Used in urine testing. Suitable clearing agents are soluble salts of lead and mercury.
