Abstract
A mutant strain of Brevibacterium flavum-FERM-P 1681 FERM 1682 Corynebacterium acetoacidophilum FERM-P 1683 or Corynebacterium glutamicum FERM-P 1781, which is more resistant to S drugs (sulpha-pyridine, thiazole, diazine, irgafen or irgamide) than the parent strains are cultured in aq. medium contg. assimilable C and N cpds. and (in)organic salts aerobically for 2-7 days at 24-37 degrees C and pH 5-9 to give L-proline which is recovered by conventional methods.
