Abstract

Seats made of foam cushions include two distinct lateral wings; the twin wing cushions are moulded concurrently in a mould split by inserts to provide two symmetrical cavities each of which makes one of the wing elements. Pref. the inserts define the inner face of the wing cavity and also have an oblique web for creating an inclined slot in each moulded wing cushion which can accept a piece of stiffening material. When moulding, the inserts are pref. coated with a non stick material such as PTFE to facilitate their subsequent removal. Mould may be prelined with a fabric covering for the foam mouldings.
