Abstract

Equipment applies an electrostically oriented powdered resin to preheated glass articles suspended from a carrier which provides part of the field circuits, and where a narrow elongated air curtain is used to prevent deposition of the powder on the carrier jig. The lips of the air curtain manifold are pref. adjusted level with the tops of the target articles and the curtain jets are pref. angled slightly upwards. Pref. the lip gaps are adjustable. For coating glass bottles with thermosetting (epoxy) resins or thermoplastics (PVC, polyamides, polyethylene, ethylene-vinylacetate copolymers). Prevents build up of stray coating material which otherwise could interfere with the electrical contact between the carrier and the bottle and impair the coating efficiency.
