Abstract
Battery material comprising 75-95 wt. % Ni(OH)2 and 5-25 wt. % Ni(OH)3; or Co(OH)2 with 65-95 wt. % Ni(OH)2 and 5-35 wt. % Ni(OH)3, the Co/Ni wt. ratio being 12/88, is prepd. by reacting material contg. N2(OH)2 and opt. Co(OH)2 with 3.3-13.2 mole % halogen (esp. Br2, Cl2) in NaOH soln. The electrode plate is based on bonded metal (esp. Ni, Fe, or steel) fibre with a protective coating.
