Abstract

The process uses clusters of 5-35 wt.% Fe3O4 and 95-65 wt.% powdered activated C, that is removable by a magnetic filter, to remove insecticides, detergents, phenols, dyes, enzymes, viruses, fats, proteins, polysaccharides, oil, colloids or colour-or odour- producing organic compounds from water, for the tertiary treatment of sewage or for removing colour impurities from organic resins, dry cleaning agents and colour and odours from glycerine. Lower costs and greater speeds than using activated C opt. mixed with a flocculating agent and/or weighting agents (magnetite or clay).
