Abstract

An hydraulic motor is mounted co-axially with, and at one end of, a feed screw of an injection moulding device, the feed screw and the motor drive shaft being pref. connected by a sleeve rotatably mounted in a block. Diathermal fluid (for controlling the temp. of the feed screw) in fed through pref. a radial bore in the mounting block to an annular channel on the inner face of the mounting block, and the fluid pref. flows from this annular channel through a radial bore in the sleeve to an annular chamber in the inner face of the sleeve. Finally the fluid flows from this annular chamber through a radial bore in the end of a feed screw to a feed duct mounted in the feed screw. The return arrangement for the fluid is similar, and pref. seals are provided on opposite sides of the annular channels in the mounting block, the size and complexity of the injection moulding are reduced, as in the mfg. cost.
