Title cpd (I) of formula: having alpha 25D + 66.7 degrees (C = l CHCl3), n22D = 1.4780, a saponification equiv. of 99.7% theory, bpt. 220 degrees C/0.2 mmHg. molecular distillation 105-111 degrees C/1 mu Hg, mass spectra m/e.=410, NMR spectra in D6-DMSO delta 0.9-2.2 multiplet 31H, delta 3.1-5.05 multiplet 9H, delta 5.3 triplet 2H, and IR spectra showing strong absorption at 2920, 2850, 1740 cm-1, medium absorption at 3444, 3000, 1470, 1240, 1170, 1120, 1080, 1060 and 1020 cm-1 and weak absorption at 1650 cm-1, are prepd. by acylating isomannide with CH3.(CH2)7-CH=CH-(CH2)7COX (where X is halogen, OH, Oalkyl or mononuclear aryloxy).
