Abstract

Prefabricated planking or slabs for infilling the structure of inter. floors or ceilings are made of a plastic material such as expanded polystyrene as a profile with shoulders for support between adjacent load bearing joists. An insert of relatively strong, rigid material (wood) is located along one of the lower edges of the profile and linked by load bearing ties to anchorage elements projecting from an upper surface on the profile. Pref. the insert anchorages are double headed nails driven through the slab body from a champferred face which accommodates the upper head of the nail below the level of the top of the slab. Pref. the opposite side of the slab is extended at the base to fit beneath the one joist and butt against the edge of the adjacent slab.
